Foreign Service

Therapy for Foreign Service members and families navigating the emotional realities of service, transition, and life across cultures.

Support for the transitions, separations, identity shifts, and homecomings that come with a life of service abroad.

A life shaped by transition

Foreign Service life can hold purpose, adventure, and deep connection alongside uncertainty, isolation, repeated goodbyes, and the pressure to adapt quickly. The people around you may not fully understand what it takes to build a life across countries, cultures, roles, and changing definitions of home. Therapy offers a place where the complexity of that experience does not need to be minimized or explained away.

What we can work through

Our work can make room for the experiences that often accompany service abroad: preparing for a move, adjusting to a new post, maintaining relationships across distance, supporting children through transitions, navigating an accompanying-partner identity, returning home, or deciding what comes next. We can also address anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, belonging, and the strain that repeated change can place on individuals and families.

What sessions look like

Therapy with me is relational, practical, and responsive to the realities of a mobile life. Together, we will identify what is asking for attention now, build steadiness through uncertainty, and make space for the parts of your experience that may have been set aside while you focused on adapting or taking care of others. The goal is not simply to manage the next transition, but to feel more connected to yourself wherever you are.

What you can expect

You do not need to wait until life feels settled to ask for support. Whether you are overseas, between assignments, or finding your footing after returning home, we can work toward greater clarity, resilience, and a sense of belonging that travels with you.
